Things are looking up

After a long and hard month things are finally starting to look up. Cleo has just had her 2nd week of treatment and the vet says she has improved greatly. I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t have a massive smile on my face! She is a fighter I will give her that. If only I had half her strength! She is on tablets this week (I forget the name) and some Diuretics. These are to ensure that as the drugs break down and get flushed out before they irritate her bladder which in turn means some accidents in the house. To be fair though, she makes it to the door and asks to go out most times. They seem to be working at present and if they did not then she would not be able to use this drug again, weakening her chances which we want to avoid …

Halfway through week 1

We are halfway through week 1 of Cleo’s treatment and I have to say she has turned a corner. She is much brighter and has a lot more energy. Her eyes were bloodshot and she was lethargic leading up to and including the day of the appointment last Friday but within 24 hours of her treatment she was bouncing around almost like a pup again! It is truly amazing to watch. Part of me knows it is most likely the medication giving a boost and that it may be temporary but I’m being optimistic. The next 4 weeks we are booked in every Friday.  Each week they will do a blood test and if her white blood cell count is high enough they will continue treatment. Within 4 or 5 weeks we should know if the cancer has gone into remission. Vicky and I are both hopeful. Cleo is stronger …

The day before

Well it is finally the day before Cleo gets her first treatment. To say I’m edgy about it would be an understatement! She was coughing quite a lot last night. Maybe it was the hot weather provoking it though? Either way I hope this treatment eases it for her at least. Must be horrible. We are giving her more food than usual to try and keep her weight up but she seems to be losing it quite quickly. We notice it more when we put her harness on. Feeling pretty tired this week too. It is not that I’m burning the candle at both ends, rather that I must have sprung a leak somewhere and all my energy is leaking out. That is the best way I can put it. All in all the weekend cannot come quickly enough.  On top of that I really need to get a car. …
